Tile Material vs Labor Quote Checker
Know exactly where tile waste belongs in a quote. Compare installed square footage, extra boxes and the labor basis before accepting a bid.

Quantity and quote check
A billing comparison, not a determination of a fair or lawful price. Ask the contractor to confirm scope, layout, exclusions and labor billing terms.
Why waste and labor should be shown separately
Tile installers often order more tile than the measured floor area because pieces break or are cut around walls and fixtures. That extra material may be necessary, but it is not automatically extra installed square footage. A clear estimate distinguishes the material order from the labor measurement.
Enter the net surface area, a waste allowance, the coverage and cost printed on the box, and a proposed labor rate. The checker rounds material up to whole boxes and compares labor charged on the net installed area against labor charged on the area of the purchased boxes. It does not model a detailed cut layout or replace a site visit.
Example: 220 sq ft with 12% planned waste requires 246.4 sq ft of coverage. At 16 sq ft per box, that means 16 boxes, or 256 sq ft purchased. If labor is $12/sq ft, the two labor bases differ by $432.
